We have tons of  real Armadillos here in Mississippi.  They get in the flower beds, pool, etc.. 
They can be a  "pain" with their digging up things.  There are actually over 20 species of real armadillos. 
"Baby" armadillos are actually cute.  They are 4 soft pink, tiny identical boys / or girls from 1 egg. 
 
These  "Armadillos" below won't have you up at night or  "dug-up" flower beds........
